For Artisans

If your work makes
your city what it is,
you're an artisan.

We use "artisan" the way the guilds did: paid work, not a hobby.

Who qualifies

A creative business that adds to the character of a place.

What they share: real overhead, real customers, a product with a point of view. The test is culture, not medium. A few examples follow, not the full list.

Makers

  • Furniture maker
  • Ceramicist at the market
  • Glassblower, leatherworker
Food & drink

  • Café, brewery, restaurant
  • Food pop-up chasing its first storefront
Media & print

  • Record label
  • Print shop
Artists

  • Musician, painter, working artist
  • Same test as any small business: real overhead, real customers
Venues & spaces

  • Music venue, indie cinema
  • Independent spaces that anchor a scene

Treat the categories above as a starting point, not a checklist. Does this business help make the city what it is? If so, you likely qualify.
